Who we are The Internet data connectivity and broadband digital divide between developed and developing countries is increasing at a rapid pace. Today, billions of people from developing countries are disconnected from the global information economy. Wireless broadband connectivity has a critical role to play in narrowing digital divides and allowing poorer countries to leapfrog generations of fixed line telecommunications technology and infrastructure, empowering their citizens and achieve concrete development gains.

Foris Telecom is a global wireless broadband mobile WiMAX carrier and Internet Service Provider. The Company deploys and operates scalable, low cost, wireless data networks in emerging markets. The Company holds triple play licenses in 15 countries mainly in Africa and Asia, covering some 300 million people. We believe that broadband, in its wireless form; will be the locomotive that will drive developing nations into the information economy in the decades to come.

WiMAX: The primary connectivity solution in emerging markets

Benefiting from extensive experience in the telecommunications markets of developing countries, Foris Telecom's founders understood that a radically different approach in the deployment and operation of Mobile WiMAX were required to penetrate emerging markets on a mass scale. Foris Telecom has developed an operational business model that it uses to deploy WiMAX broadband solutions at significantly lower costs to operators, individuals, and institutional users.

Four components to enhancing the connectivity value chain

Foris Telecom believes that the four enabling components of an information society are accessibility, connectivity, skills (information and communications technology skills and capacity building), and content. In order to enhance its connectivity offering, Foris Telecom has partnered, or is in the process of partnering with ICT suppliers, local governments, agencies, and NGOs, each with the leverage to address specific aspects of the three complementary pillars of Foris Telecom's WiMAX connectivity (for example, bundling netbooks/laptops with connectivity for students in university campuses). This "horizontal integration" around the Foris Telecom core WiMAX connectivity business, is strategic to market penetration and growth.
